HIC’s ONYX Voice Gateway supports high-speed internet via four (4) Gigabit Ethernet ports, LAN and enhanced wireless speeds as per DOCSIS 3.0, dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 to increase address capacity and improve security, integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi Access Point, Dual-band concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios, it’s backwards compatible with 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n, and DOCSIS 1.x/2.0. In order to prevent unauthorized access to the wireless network, HIC’s ONYX Voice Gateway provides advanced security authentication and encryption standards such as WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK, 64/128-bit WEP, WMM, 802.11e, WPS (PIN & PBC), and an SPI Firewall.
Further advantage provided by the concurrent Dual-Band capabilities (300Mbps on 2.4GHz + 1.3 Gbps on 5GHz) include a seamless IPTV experience on any mobile device due to the capability of conversion and streaming of DVB-C broadcast video over 802.11ac 5GHz while simultaneously ensuring uninterrupted data services over the 802.11n 2.4 GHz.
HIC’s ONYX Voice Gateway delivers enhanced bandwidth to support multimedia and high-bandwidth applications. Twenty-four (24) bonded DS channels and eight (8) bonded US channels can reach speeds of up to 1 Gbps downstream and 240 Mbps upstream for operators to provide their end subscribers with twelve data channels and eight channels for dedicated IPTV services. In addition, it can support multiple SSIDs per radio to offer flexibility for the subscribers’ network and considerable flexibility for connection to a variety of home and mobile devices in the SmartHome. MSOs may choose to reserve SSIDs for hotspots, guest access and other related applications. Internal MIMO antennas (2Tx and 2Rx on 2.4GHz + 3Tx and 3Rx on 5GHz) and their optimal design enables high wireless connection speeds and enhanced coverage.
VOICE SERVICES - TELEPHONY
HIC’s ONYX Voice Gateway provides a 2-line multimedia terminal adapter for telephony connectivity over two (2) ports for analog devices such as telephones, answering machines or faxes with standard CLASS features and RFC 3261 SIP support. Complies with EuroPacketCable 1.0/1.5 and can be upgraded to EuroPacketCable 2.0.
SMOOTH DEVICE and SERVICE MANAGEMENT
HIC ONYX’s simple Gateway and application management system can be paired up with any TR-069-compliant remote management auto-configuration server. Its user-friendly management interface provides leading tools to easily inspect network configurations, identify connectivity and service related issues as well as providing remote configuration capabilities. Hence, service providers can smoothly mitigate operational expenses, reduce TTM for leading-edge services and increase customer satisfaction.
FULL-BAND CAPTURE (FBC) by BROADCOM
HIC’s ONYX Gateway benefits from a revolutionary technology “Full-Band Capture” developed by our technology partner, BROADCOM.
Broadcom’s Full-Band Capture (FBC) digital tuning uses digital technology that allows operators to offer set-top boxes and gateways that not only deliver tons of TV channels and high-speed broadband but also do so easier, quicker and at a lower cost. Once in a single device, it does this by digitizing the spectrums for both cable (1GHz) or satellite (950-2150 MHz). It then uses advanced digital signal processing (DSP) techniques to digitally tune multiple channels simultaneously. Each of these new channels feeds into a digital
demodulator that outputs a video transport or IP stream.
With FBC, there is no longer a need for frequency allocation to buffer the different services running through the broadband pipe. Cable operators can apply previously unusable frequencies for additional broadband services and seamlessly transition from the old inefficient broadcast model to a new, flexible and more efficient IP process.
Now, operators can deliver between eight (8) to thirty-two (32) downstream/upstream channels of combined video streaming and Internet-based services to multiple connected devices within the home. More importantly, it delivers more content and in-demand services while reducing energy consumption by more than 50 percent. For the viewer, the results appear in additional HD broadcast channels, as well as new IP video services, such as advanced movie streaming. Another big change for the user will come to the remote control experience. With digital tuning, channels changes will be nearly instantaneous. Converting from analog to digital is no easy feat. Capturing more TV content and services and supporting faster broadband speeds is a challenge in today’s systems. That’s what makes Broadcom’s FBC technology both revolutionary, and more importantly, evolutionary. It’s a product that bridges the gap between yesterday’s analog video delivery and the future of enhanced, Internet-powered broadcasting.
